The Custom Design Process Explained

Our Expertise in Custom Design

What sets us apart (our USP)?

Creating custom jewellery is one of our specialties, and we excel at it. With over 30 years of international experience, we have established connections worldwide. This ensures we source the best products at the most competitive prices, ensuring you receive higher quality and better value than the average offerings available out there.

We utilise a variety of resources to craft custom jewellery designs, collaborating with primary producers to secure all necessary components. Whether we produce locally or overseas depends on your specific requirements. Regardless, you can always expect the highest quality and the most cost-effective solution when you trust us with your custom design or bespoke jewellery creation.

The Custom Design Process

Understanding Your Vision

Every custom-designed piece of jewellery is unique. Our process begins with a consultation to understand your exact needs. You might have an image to show us, as a starting point, or if you're unsure of what you want, we'll help you explore your preferences to design your perfect piece.

Designing with CAD Technology

Once we understand your requirements, we typically provide a Computer-Aided Design (CAD) image of the piece. CAD technology allows us to create detailed and accurate designs in real-time. In the past, designs were carved out of wax, but now, we can bring your design to life on the screen for you to see.

Example: Flower Design Engagement Ring

For instance, when creating a Flower Design engagement ring, the client specified the size of the centre diamond. We used its dimensions to map out the proportions of the side diamonds—Marquise and Round diamonds.

Once we knew the precise diamond dimensions we’d be using we then refined each aspect of the ring design's details, considering factors such as:

  • Band width
  • The design/look and feel of underneath of the setting
  • Connection of the band shoulders to the setting
  • Claw (prong) design for holding the diamonds
  • Finger size and overall proportions
  • Whether the ring will be worn with a fitted wedding band

After finalising all these details, we presented the client with the CAD image for approval.

To help visualise the finished ring, we rendered the CAD image to show a more realistic looking version.

Production and Finalisation

Upon approval of the design by the client, we created the gold setting, as seen below in its completed stage before setting the diamonds:

Finally, the diamonds were set into the ring, and the ring had its final polish. It was then ready for delivery:

By following this meticulous process, we ensure that each custom piece of jewellery is crafted to perfection, meeting your unique specifications and exceeding your expectations.
